Ben Goodes
Operations Manager
EmailIntroduction
I have been at Nene Valley Crematorium for 2 years, having previously worked on the audio-visual side of funerals for 8 years. As operations manager my focus is on ensuring respectful, seamless services for families while maintaining high standards of efficiency and professionalism across the site. After visiting my first branch meeting at the Gordon Institute in 2024, I wanted to be part of the bringing together of like minded people to share ideas.

Bereavement Services Manager & Registrar
EmailIntroduction
I manage 2 crematoriums, 46 open cemeteries and 98 Closed Churchyards. I first started on a Y.T. Scheme in 1985 which involved all aspects of grounds maintenance. I went on to carrying out grass cutting operations, an opportunity arose to work in the nursery where I undertook studies to become a qualified gardener. Then came a chance to become a client officer, for grounds maintenance, street cleaning and burials. Nobody was willing to take on burials and headstone inspections so I put my hand up and was given the position of bereavement services manager.

Introduction
I’ve worked for Trafford Bereavement Services for 26 years and been manager since 2008. Prior to that I worked for an independent family funeral directors for 11 years. This gave me a great background for when I switched sides as I was able to look at the bigger picture of what the FDs wanted and what we provided. I was also aware of all the tricks!
Victoria Currie
Cemetery & Crematorium Manager
EmailIntroduction
I started working for Conwy County Borough Council in 1999 in the Highways Department. I looked after footpaths and bridleways in the county. Everyone says what a wonderful job getting paid to walk the hills of North Wales. In reality it is lot of arguements with landowners and ramblers in muddy fields! After a reorganisation I took on responsibility for cleansing and the highway maintenance. The dread of gritting season became too much and when the manager vacancy came up at the crematorium in 2021 I jumped at the chance.

I have been actively involved in Bereavement Services since 1993, beginning my career as a Memorial Officer then transitioned into a trainee role. Following completion of my Diploma I progressed to a position where I now lead the Bereavement Services Strategy. I have served as Secretary and Chair of the Continuous Improvement Forum in Wales for several years. Stepping into the role of ICCM Branch Secretary was a natural progression.

Service Manager/Registrar
EmailIntroduction
My journey with the ICCM began around a decade ago when I delved into undertaking my ICCM diploma and started to attend their conferences and branch meetings. Attending the branch meetings was always a highlight for me, and I made a point to attend as many as possible. It was at one particular meeting, which I regrettably missed, that I discovered I had been nominated as branch secretary! As branch secretary my primary goal is to assist the chairperson and ensure the smooth functioning of branch activities; coordinating itineraries, communicating important updates, or simply lending a helping hand where needed.
